In addition to the US jurisdictions, some Canadian provinces have also adopted unclaimed property laws. Currently, Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Quebec have their own versions. Like the US, each jurisdiction has unique requirements. Though other provinces do not have an unclaimed property law, unclaimed bank account balances are governed by the rules of the Bank of Canada.
